
Program Description:
The Tri River Area Master Gardener Program began in 1978 with eight members. Currently, over 300 Master Gardeners are active in the program, assisting the public by providing research-based information on many horticulture topics. Master Gardeners plant and maintain demonstration gardens throughout the area, organize the annual Landscapes West Conference and Garden Show, diagnose plant samples, test soil and water for salts, conduct house calls, and provide information at community events. Annual Apprentice training is January through March; Apprentices commit to a minimum of 50 hours service during the year.
Program Responsibilities:
Coordinate annual Master Gardener training, utilizing Extension educators, local experts, and specialists. Organize additional training throughout the year. Coordinate and promote horticulture events and activities for Master Gardeners and the public.
