When can I enroll in 4-H?

4-H has an open enrollment policy. Members and leaders can enroll at any time throughout the year. However, open enrollment to participate in the Boulder County Fair opens October 1st and ends May 1st annually. In the event that May 1st falls on a weekend, the enrollment closes on the last day of April.

What does it cost to join?

  • There is a $25.00 fee for Boulder County 4-H for the 2007-2008 year. This fee includes literature for two projects, insurance, newsletter support, intern support, and a $10.00 state fee.
  • Joining more than one club or taking more than two projects will result in additional fees.
  • While the county fee is $25.00, there are costs associated with each project. For example, members who take photography must own a camera and will have costs for film and processing or digital processing. Likewise, livestock members must purchase and care for their own animals.
  • 4-H is an equal opportunity, non-discriminatory youth organization. Scholarships are available from the 4-H Foundation for families with financial need, yet they do have to prove U.S. citizenship. Please speak to the 4-H office or your club leader about receiving a scholarship.
