Small Acreage - Manure Management

There is an estimated 8,000 horses in Boulder County. Figuring one average horse generates 5 cubic feet (350 lbs) of manure per week, each year over 2 million cubic feet (over 77,000 cubic yards) of horse manure must be handled. Used properly, it becomes a great soil amendment. Without informed management it becomes a source of water pollution.
