About Jefferson County Extension

Colorado State University Extension in Jefferson County provides practical information and educational programs for citizens who have concerns and questions about horticulture, consumer and family sciences, natural resources, environmental education, native plants and youth development, particularly 4-H.

A cooperative effort of Jefferson County, Colorado State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture the staff and programs housed in our local office benefit citizens of Jefferson county in many ways. Each year, thousands of citizens ranging from elementary aged youth to senior citizens attend educational programs, have questions answered and participate as volunteers. Jefferson County Extension is a division of Jeffco Parks.

Extension programs are available to all without discrimination. A local Advisory Committee, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners, provides input and guidance to ensure that Jefferson County Extension meets the needs of local citizens. As one of 54 county extension offices serving 59 counties in Colorado, the mission of extension in Colorado guides our work.

The mission of Extension is to provide information and education and encourage the application of research based knowledge in response to local, state, and national issues affecting individuals, youth, families, agricultural enterprises, and communities of Colorado.
